Development goals

The PASCAM software products are being developed primarily to serve for the success of your enerprise in an ever increasing competitive environment for woodworking companies. So your practical benefit is our priority. Therefore our software packages offer the following performances:

  • The most important objective of PASCAM is to provide the tools for a safe and reliable design process. Errors are always expensive and should be avoided. And errors are even more expensive the later they are detected. By modeling completely in 3D the user is able to recognize almost all geometric errors easily at an early stage of the design process and is able to eliminate them. The transparent presentation and easy modification of all available model data based on the "semantic feature" technology contributes also to this objective.

  • PASCAM is offering various possibilities to save your frequently used design elements as your personal design knowledge in the user-defined libraries of PASCAM WoodWorks, e.g. at the user generated part libraries and databases, the mating library, the feature libraries for processings and CAM strategies etc. These user-defined libraries and the application of user-defined intelligent assembly components, added with parametric processings (e.g. pockets, grooves), helps you to minimize errors by re-using proven and practically approved design and manufacturing templates safely and efficiently.

  • PASCAM is aiming to perform as fast and efficiently in daily standard design tasks as in the creation of individual, customized design efforts, based on user-defined standard components and templates. In this respect users can profit from the outstanding performance and full flexibility of a feature based volume modeler like SOLIDWORKS®. That means you can deposit your standard design tasks in the system the way your company needs it and you can always fall back on them fast and easily.
Users are able to create special, customized models as far as possible based on standardized component, mating and manufacturing templates in order to use efficient tools like the PASCAM variable management, the PASCAM part description and the  PASCAM mate management. These special models and their design elements can be used as templates and get "standardized" design elements for later use very quick and easily.

  • PASCAM Bea provides the capabilities for a completely feature-based, bidirectional continuous model data flow for CNC manufacturing in an integrated woodworking CAD/CAM system. PASCAM Bea offers an outstanding increase of efficiency, speed and security in CNC programming, based on the PASCAM WoodWorks product models, which are strictly following the "designed for manufacturing" (DFM) approach. PASCAM Bea is adding CNC machining features to your SOLIDWORKS® model, completely integrating the CAM generation and CNC machining strategies into the SOLIDWORKS® workflow. PASCAM Bea works completely associative to the SOLIDWORKS® model geometry and paves the way for an easy and intuitive application and editing of machining strategies directly at the manufacturing-geometry, selecting the reference geometry for the machining strategies directly at the SOLIDWORKS® model. User-defined machining strategies can be saved as templates for safe and easy re-use.
PASCAM Bea offers woodworking companies the full control of their manufacturing data by exporting machine neutral CNC data to powerful machine specific post processors. The use of post processors enables the control of multiple, different CNC machines on a single PASCAM Bea work seat.

  • Another objective in the development of PASCAM products is the full integration into SOLIDWORKS®. This embedding is done so seamless that a user will not recognize in most cases which functionality or software module he is creating his product model with. This complete integration is achieved by the further developed existing standard feature technology to so called "semantic features". The semantic features provided by PASCAM will enable you to efficiently create manufacturing-oriented woodworking product models as close to reality as necessary.

  • The use of standardized software interfaces is another aim of the PASCAM development. This way expensive development resources are saved, proven software is used and the general application is simplified. An example of this goal are the Excel-based worksheets for the comprehensive bill of materials and other exportable data lists, enabling you to carry out further calculations in other programs or import/convert this data easily into other industry-specific formats.
