Coupling with Manufacturing Execution Systems
Manufacturing Execution
Systems, also called MES, manufacturing
control systems, production database or
similar, are used to control the
manufacturing processes under daily
conditions. There are specifications for
each day in production; what kind of
material is currently available, depending
on which type of manufacturing is preferred.
Common to all approaches is that they have
to be able react to current events. For
example, machines can break down, parts can
be damaged, and so forth. In any case, it
must be ensured that such events can be
reacted to in a timely manner, as they can
significantly disrupt normal operations and
cause considerable costs.
